Cities of the Silk Road: Ferghana Valley

Finally, as an extension to the main tour, we drove (or, technically, were driven) over the mountains and into the Ferghana Valley to see yet another part of Uzbekistan and some more of the traditional crafts.

Cities of the Silk Road: Tashkent

Then it was a flight back to Tashkent taking us full circle. Tashkent was also where we said goodbye to the rest of our group whilst we stayed on for a few more days.

Cities of the Silk Road: Khiva & Nukus

We then crossed the border back in to Uzbekistan to visit the ancient Silk Road city of Khiva and the modern regional capital of Nukus where we learned more about the history of this part of Uzbekistan.

After Samarkand, we drove down to Bukhara, which – along with all the other places – turned out to be one of our favourite places on this trip.
