The day has finally arrived for us to head to Gatwick with our backpacks and daypacks with cycle helmets attached! My backpack weighed in at 13kg and Dave’s at 15kg. That is all we will have for the next 11 months. Our wardrobes are definitely limited but hopefully swimming cosies will be the order of the day for a lot of the time.
We have said out adieus until next July and it is all very real. We are still on a high from the Olympic volunteering and will miss all our new friends who are coming to terms with returning to their families and their paid employments. My facebook friends have doubled in number and hopefully we will all keep in touch and maybe meet up in Sochi 2014 for the Winter Olympics or Rio in 2016!!!
First of all, thanks to you both for being Games Makers. London 2012 were truly inspirational games and without people like you couch potatoes like me (Nick) wouldn’t have been able to enjoy it so much. Well done.
Secondly, good luck on the big trip. We hope it is everything you dreamed of.
Stay safe, wind down and get used to waiting for busses in the rain!
We’ll be following you…
Lots of love – Nick and Sue
