Another milestone on the countdown to our trip happened at the weekend as we had our Going Away party on Saturday night. It was fantastic to see our friends; the weather was just about OK; and the charcoal barbeque seemed to work pretty well. I hope that everyone enjoyed the evening as much as we did – we only wish that we had had more time to spend with each of you. The evening went by much too quickly.
We’d like to thank everyone for coming along and making the evening work and especially to Chris, Steve, Lucy, Mel & Richard for helping us get it set up (and then tidied up). Everyone contributed something, but the standouts have to be:
- Nick & Paola not only for a wonderful lemon cheesecake (that I polished off the next day), but also for a bottle of the best Grappa I have ever tasted.
- Lucy (and her glamorous assistant, Chris) for the set of cupcakes decorated in the flags of some of the countries that we will be visiting. I wasn’t quick enough to get a picture of the full set but you can see a sample in the picture above. (There’s a prize – well, at least points – for the first person to name the countries).
We will miss you all and look forward to seeing you all again on our return.
